Ibaraki Prefecture 100th Anniversary Time Capsule

On November 13, 1971, a time capsule was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ibaraki Prefecture. The following year, on November 13, 1972, a time capsule was buried on the grounds of the Prefectural Museum of History in Mito City, the prefectural capital. The time capsule was created by Hiranuma Seiki Co., Ltd., the predecessor of our company. Although it was forgotten within the company for a long time, it has once again been engraved as part of our company’s long history.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Ibaraki Prefecture’s founding, a time capsule was created to convey what it was like back then to people 100 years from now. It will be opened in 2071, and there is still half a century left, so I don’t know if I will be able to witness it, but I get excited when I imagine what it will be like when it is opened.

Nowadays, the company is known for its automatic titrators and moisture measuring devices, but back then it appears to have done a variety of jobs and possessed a variety of technologies.

The fact that we were given the important task of producing a time capsule is proof that the company was trusted even back then, and I believe it is the result of the hard work of our predecessors. It is also a great honor for us juniors. Even those of us who live today want to do work that we can be proud of to our juniors who have yet to see us when they open the time capsule.

When you visit the Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of History, be sure to take a look.
By the way, it is next to Adastria Mito Arena, the home of the B League Ibaraki Robots.
